BEAM LA COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

About the Scholarship

BEAM is offering 2-3 college scholarships of $2,000 - $7,000 to BEAM LA students! This scholarship is for students majoring in STEM and is intended to help students attend their top choice school by covering an existing gap in cost of attendance that colleges have not covered through scholarships or grants. The BEAM College Scholarship is renewable every year until you graduate, or up to 5 years, whatever comes first.

The BEAM College Scholarship (sponsored by Jane Street) is only available to current BEAM students in the graduating Class of 2026.

Criteria & Requirements

For this scholarship, BEAM is looking for:

  • Students planning to major in STEM

  • A strong commitment to STEM: You know why you chose your major(s) because you participated in a summer program, internship, or took classes in these areas in high school

  • Students who have financial need: You need money to afford to attend your top choice college

  • Preparation for STEM: 4 years of math and science high school classes (ideally, this includes Calculus, but not required)

  • Involvement with BEAM during 12th grade: You've asked for help this year, you’re in College Start, you’ve completed check-ins, you've participated in field trips, OR you've taken Saturday classes, etc.

How to Apply

  1. Email Yesenia your current unofficial high school transcript (yesenia@beammath.org).

    • If your current class schedule isn’t included in your transcript, please send a copy of this too.

  2. Once you have received financial aid packages from at most your top 3 schools you are considering attending, email them to Yesenia (yesenia@beammath.org).

  3. Schedule a 1 hour scholarship meeting with Yesenia as soon as you receive those financial aid packages by clicking the button below.

That’s it! No application, no letters of recommendation and no essays!

Deadline & Decision Date

The deadline to complete all 3 steps is Monday, April 20, 2026. We want to make sure you know whether you’re receiving this money before you commit to a college! We strongly encourage you to schedule a scholarship meeting with Yesenia as soon as you receive financial aid packages from your top choices.

If you are interested in the scholarship but do not receive financial aid packages by the deadline, please let Yesenia know.

Scholarship decisions will be released via email on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you are selected for our scholarship, the amount you receive will vary based on your need and the gap in cost you have. The amount will not exceed $7,000 and it may vary for each school you are considering. The exact amount will be provided to you if you are selected.

  • Yes! If you are selected as a scholarship recipient you will continue to receive the same amount every year until you graduate, or up to 5 years, whatever comes first. There are certain requirements you will have to meet to keep receiving the scholarship, but we will share those once you’re selected as a recipient.

  • Yes, but we will be prioritizing students who have financial need. If you won a scholarship but you still have a significant amount to cover out of pocket, you are still a strong candidate!

  • As long as it is something in STEM, you’re eligible to apply! Below is a very general list of STEM majors, but it does not include every possible STEM major. If your major is not listed here, you may still be eligible. Reach out to Yesenia if you want to check your major eligibility.

  • Contact Yesenia or just apply! We know every college has its own unique majors and many of them may be considered STEM. If you’re unsure, let Yesenia know and she can confirm for you.

  • If you are undeclared but confident that you’ll major in something STEM, then you can still apply. Just keep in mind that if you get the scholarship, to keep receiving the scholarship every year you're in college, you'll have to show proof that you are pursuing a STEM major.

  • You should only submit financial aid packages for your top choices, or for the schools you are seriously considering attending. You can submit up to 3, but if you are only really interested in 1 or 2, that’s fine too, just submit those (although, we do prefer more than 1).

  • Because we will be going over the financial aid packages from your top choices during the meeting, it is required for you to have those available before scheduling a meeting. If you don’t think you can meet the deadline, contact Yesenia!

  • During the 1 hour meeting we will:

    • Complete your semester check-in.

    • Go over the BEAM College Scholarship.

    • Review financial aid packages.

    • Complete the scholarship intake form.

    • Share information about our college program.

Before this meeting, make sure you email Yesenia the following:

    • Your most recent HS transcript (and your current class schedule if not included in your transcript).

    • Financial aid packages for at most the TOP 3 schools you are considering.

If you have other questions, please contact Yesenia. Best of luck!
