Overview of the BEAM Admissions Process

We’re happy that you’re planning to apply to BEAM’s programs! Please note BEAM's application window is from February-March of each year.

Here’s more information about the process:

  1. Families fill out an application

  2. Students take an Admissions Challenge. If a student attends a partner school, we will visit the school to administer it. If they don’t attend a partner school, that’s okay! We host Admissions Challenges on Saturdays, find out more information by grade to the right.

  3. If you’re in 7th grade: Family submits financial verification documents.

  4. BEAM makes an admissions decision.

The program is completely free, including all activities, field trips, transportation, and weekday breakfast and lunch.

Admissions are competitive: this is a camp for students who think like math, like solving puzzles, and want to see what else is out there.

You can find more information about the program that best fits your grade to the right, or click on the button below.

BEAM takes place in both New York City and Los Angeles. BEAM is an accepting and inclusive environment, and we seek to be a safe space for everyone. We want to welcome you as you are, and bring you to somewhere you can be yourself.

*BEAM is designed to support students who are underrepresented in STEM careers. Our primary admissions criteria are mathematical (are you ready for BEAM’s programs?) with priority given to those who come from lower-income families or who wouldn’t otherwise have access to similar programs.
