Founding Program Manager: BEAM National Programs (NYC)

Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM) is seeking a founding Program Manager to launch our first-ever nationwide initiative.

Founded in 2011, BEAM’s programs create realistic pathways for students from low-income and historically marginalized communities to become scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and programmers. We believe that math is beautiful, and all students should have access to deep and interesting math; that STEM careers provide a critical gateway to fulfilling, well-paid careers; and that more and more power and influence in society is centered around science and technology, so broader access is even more important. However, the doors to these opportunities are closed because underserved students do not have the same opportunities for advanced study as more affluent peers.

Currently, BEAM operates programs directly in New York City and Los Angeles. Our new nationwide initiative involves building out a program so that students can access BEAM nationwide. When fully implemented, it will include locally-run programs (at school districts, university partners, and community organizations); online classes; a national residential summer program; and continuing support for students who attend that program. The initial phase consists of developing the locally-run programs and is the focus of this position.

This position is ideal for a teacher or administrator looking to branch out into independent nonprofit or leadership work. For more information or to apply, please view the job description.

NYC Program Coordinator or Program Assistant

Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM), a project of the Art of Problem Solving Initiative, Inc., is seeking a Program Coordinator or Program Assistant for our New York City programs.

As Program Coordinator/Assistant, you'll be part of a close-knit team helping exceptional young people to achieve their full potential. You will support our programming for our middle school and high school students; you will become a summer program leader and learn to direct one of our summer program sites; and you will help support our hiring of over 150 people each summer. You will also be present in the students' lives, providing individual guidance as students seek out new opportunities and navigate middle school, high school, and college.

This position is a good early career job for someone with strong mathematical skills who wants to join our growing team. For more information and to apply, please view the job description.

Elementary School Program Lead (NYC)

Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM) is seeking an Elementary School Program Lead. You'll be part of a close-knit team helping exceptional young people to achieve their full potential. As Elementary School Program Lead, you will launch (and teach for) a new project to bring mathematics enrichment to younger ages than we have previously reached, helping students to discover and enjoy mathematical reasoning, and providing a new entry point to our programs for advanced study. You will have a unique opportunity to design the curriculum that will be used as we expand out the program.

Please note that hiring for this position is currently on hold due to BEAM’s launch of other new projects. We are leaving this posting up because we expect to seek to fill in the role again in the future, and we welcome those who are interested to get in touch now and begin the conversation. We think it is especially well-suited for a teacher with experience with elementary school students and a background going beyond the school math curriculum. For more information and to reach out, please view the job description.
