Tour and Admissions Test for Bard High School Early College (8th graders):
When: Wednesday, October 24th
(5:30pm-8:30pm; parents and students invited)
Bard High School Early College is one of the best high schools in the city. At this BEAM-only tour, you'll get to learn about the school and meet current students. Then you'll take the admissions test for BHSEC, the first step of getting in. While students are taking the admissions test, parents can ask questions to both students and administrators.
Pizza will be provided. Please arrive by 5:30 to have time for pizza, a tour, and the admissions test.
You must bring your 7th grade transcript to be considered for admission. This transcript must show 7th grade grades, 7th grade state test scores, absences, and latenesses. If you have more than 10 absences or latenesses in 7th grade, talk to BEAM about writing BHSEC a letter to explain why.
If you attend this session, you do not need to sign up for a separate BHSEC information session on their website. However, you can still attend even if you already signed up for a separate session.
This event is at BHSEC Queens, but the admissions test counts for both BHSEC locations.
How to get there:
BHSEC Queens is at 30-20 Thomson Avenue in Long Island City. There are many trains that run nearby. Be careful: the building is a skyscraper and might not look like a school!
• 7 train to 33rd Street station
• E, M, R trains to Queens Plaza station
• G train to Long Island City - Court Square station
• N, Q trains to Queensboro Plaza station - a bit farther away
Where to go in the building:
Go in the building and down a flight on the staircase. Walk down the corridor, then across a big atrium to the elevators. Take an elevator to the 6th Floor. You can follow signs or ask anyone there for help finding it.
