BEAM College Prep

BEAM College Prep answered all the questions I had and more. Learning about the whole process eliminated all the stress and worries I would have had during the school year.

BEAM College Prep encourages you to get your work done and helps you get in a position for the summer before going back to school. BEAM helped me take financial aid into account as I thought about applying.

Calling all rising 11th and 12th grade BEAM students! BEAM is running a 5-day college prep program just for you.

What will be covered?

  • Basics of college admissions.

  • Financial aid: how to pay for college.

  • How to choose the right college for you.

  • Standardized tests: what to take and when.

  • (for 12th graders) Writing an essay for a college application.

  • And more!

You will also get some work to do at home during the week, and after the week you will leave with a plan on how to have all of your college applications done in time!

When and where is it?

The course will be held the weekdays of Monday, August 19–Friday, August 23 from 10am–4pm, with a break for lunch. (We are providing a simple pizza lunch each day; you're welcome to also bring food from home.) We expect attendance at the full program, but email Ayinde at if you can't make the whole time.

The program will be at the Downtown Conference Center at Pace University (157 William Street on the corner of William and Ann Street). If transportation will be a hardship, BEAM can provide a free Metrocard. See below.
